We are sure we are not the only ones thinking, is it that time of the year already?! At Awesome Cleaning,
we know that you may be excited for the holiday season, but not as excited about the pre/post
cleaning that needs to be done.
The beef, chicken, and turkey will be well cooked and served and the guests will come and go, but
only one thing will be left pending – “the after holiday mess.”. We know the
feeling, so we put together a few tips to help tackle the mess and cut through the pre/post cleanup
Be Proactive – Predict the Damage that Might be Done
Before Brittany and her boyfriend or dad and mom start showing up, we suggest you walk through every room of your home and
determine how much damage your guests are likely to do. Red wine stains, mud on the carpet, and
spills on the upholstery should probably be part of your “worried” list. Find a way
to have all guests eat and drink in the dining area only.
know this might be very hard to do but we suggest that you try and notify them to reduce potential
damage on your carpet.
Kitchens and Bathrooms!
Number one secret! Stay ahead by keeping the kitchen tidy! Letting pots, dirty pans, and dishes sit
too long means they’ll be more difficult to clean later. Try to keep them washed before guests
start showing up and when the eating starts – stay on course by keeping the cleaning going.
However, if you forget to wash up immediately after dinner, start this chore as soon as the guests
have said goodbye.
Allow stubborn dishes to soak while you tidy up the living room, but don’t let them linger overnight.
Your kitchen may be important – yes we agree because all the guests get to see it , but don't
forget your bathroom is second to none. Give the toilets a detailed cleaning, take out the trash,
and wipe down surfaces with a sanitizing wipe. Light a candle to make it smell good, sweep, and
mop the floors with a microfiber cleaner.
Cleaning up before and after the holidays should not be a one person task. Crank up the tunes, and
give every one of your guests a few tasks to complete. Get Mark’s fiancée to take out the
trash or get mom to help pick up the kids’ mess. Having help means that the mess is gone
in a short period of time. After everything is spic and span, give your helpers a treat as a
way of saying thank you! A slice of pumpkin pie, hot cocoa, and the perfect holiday movie…or
something along that line.
Get Help from a Professional
Usually getting ready for the guests might be very difficult; If the mess is more than you can handle,
get professional help. A cleaning service will return your home to better-than-new shape in just
a few hours while you unwind with a little holiday shopping or cocktails with a friend. If a
full home cleaning isn’t in your budget, a cleaning service can at least handle the most difficult
rooms while you tackle the rest.
